Some info about city Bila Tserkva:

The city Bila Tserkva (Belaya Tserkov in Russian) is a city (est. 200,000) in Kyiv oblast, situated in the Dnieper Upland on the Ros River. The present name of the city, literally translated, is “White Church” and may refer to the (not longer extant) white-painted cathedral of medieval Yuriev.
It was built on the site of Yuriev, a town founded in 1032. In the mid-16th century, when Bila Tserkva belonged to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a fortified castle was built; under Polish rule it was an important county town and in Cossack times the seat of the Bila Tserkva regiment (1648–74, 1702–12). Was granted Magdeburg Rights in 1620 by Sigismund III Vasa. In 1651 Bohdan Khmelnytsky signed the Treaty of Bila Tserkva with the Poles. In 1702 Bila Tserkva was the center of an anti-Polish uprising led by Semen Palii. In 1793 it became part of the Russian Empire. Its population was 17,200 in 1860 and 35,400 in 1897. Before 1914 the city was involved in food production, artisanry, and trade, particularly in agricultural products and sugar. Under the Central Rada the leaders of the Free Cossacks were stationed in Bila Tserkva; in 1918 a detachment of Sich Riflemen was formed here, and the uprising against Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky was initiated.
Under Soviet rule Bila Tserkva began to develop after the Second World War—the population was 39,000 in 1926, 47,000 in 1939, 71,000 in 1959, 109,000 in 1970, and 146,000 in 1978. Today the city manufactures farm machinery (the factory was established in 1850 and in 1957 began to specialize in building machines for the production of feed for livestock), electrical capacitors, tires, rubber-asbestos products, shoes, clothing, furniture, and reinforced-concrete products.
The city has an institute of agriculture, which began as a polytechnical institute in 1920. It had 4,000 students in 1968 and publishes scientific papers. The city also has an ethnographic museum, an oblast dramatic theater, the Saksahansky Theater, and Oleksandriia Dendrological Park, which has an area of 2,000ha, it was founded in 1793-1799 by the wife of the Polish king Franciszek Ksawery Branicki. Located between Skvyrsky road and the river Ros. Architect: D. Botani, landscape artist : A. Stanhe. An example of a lanscaped park of the 18th-19th centuries. More than 600 species of exotic trees and shrubs grow in the park.
The most famous churches and buildings are:
- Preobrazhensky (Transfiguration) cathedral , 1833-39 , built in the classical style.
- Saint Nicholas’s Church (1706), 1706, completed in 1852, has unusual asymmetrical structure.

Choose the Best Accommodation in Breckenridge

December 23, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

When you’re on a vacation, the first thing you should always consider is to look for the right place to stay. Whether you’re going to enjoy the wildflowers during summer or roll around the snow during winter, you always have to consider where you’ll be staying because your accommodations can make or break your whole vacation. Finding the right place to stay is very important, space wise, location and needs should be considered. Your accommodation should cater to your needs.

Breckenridge’s economy depends on tourism so you will find that this mountain town not only has all the wonderful things that you need but more. You can choose from the numerous lodgings in Breckenridge. There are Breckenridge condominiums, hotels, log cabins, luxurious mountain homes, and vacation homes. When you’re on the stage of deciding which type of accommodation is best for you, you should consider these factors first; the number of people in your party, the length of your stay, and most of all, your budget. If you’re traveling with just a few friends, say one or two people, then it is recommended you stay in a hotel especially when you’re planning to spend most of your time out and about the town. Of course you won’t be able to cook but Breckenridge has a wide variety of restaurants with varying price levels so you can choose where you’re dining.

However when you’re with a much larger party there are lots of places for you to choose. Since your party is much larger, there are more people to split the bill with, you can rent a condo or a vacation house. You will have access to a living room, a complete kitchen and multiple bathrooms, most of all there will be more space for you to enjoy, and don’t forget you will also have more privacy. Many luxury homes have media rooms; you can plan a movie night if you just want to stay in, maybe cook dinner since you have a kitchen. Preparing a home cooked meal can be part of your vacation, why? You will have a chance to cook that recipe you have always wanted to try. You will be spending more intimate time with the people you’re spending your vacation with, after dinner you can curl in a sofa and watch that movie. Hotels can get cramped; since the whole reason for going on a vacation is to relax and enjoy, you should stay in a more relaxed and comfortable setting. So when you’re staying longer, you probably brought more stuff along too, maybe even your skis if you’re coming during winter or during summer, your bike or your fishing equipment. Staying in a hotel will definitely get cramped; you’ll be tripping on your own stuff, you’ll be sick of having to step around all your stuff because you ran out of storage space. Renting a condo, vacation home will be more accommodating to your needs. You will definitely have more storage space, you will have a private place to bond with your friends or family, you will have full access to a kitchen, which will in fact save you more because you won’t have to go and eat out all the time.

Always remember to consider these top three points before choosing your accommodation; your budget, how many people you are traveling with, and how long you will be staying. Very good planning, fun filled itinerary together with a great place to stay will make your vacation a success. Whatever you’re looking for, there is perfect accommodation that will suit your needs and budget in Breckenridge.

The New Forest Accommodation

December 20, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

The New Forest is located in South East England, namely South West Hampshire and some of South east Wiltshire and is the newest National Park in England.

Named by William the Conqueror the ‘new hunting forest’ in 1079 the landscape of the New Forest has hardly changed since then. The woodlands and heaths are looked after today using the same ancient systems implemented by William the Conqueror mainly in the form of Commoners which are the local inhabitants who farm cattle, pigs, donkeys and ponies. These areas are called pasture woodland are left open for the cattle and pigs, also deer. The Ancient and Ornamental woodlands cover 3,692 hectares of the open forest. There are also a number of other workers who manage the forest from rangers and keepers to skilled woodsmen, all of which work full time to look after the forest.

The New Forest was given National Park status in 2005 and covers an area of approximately 580 square kilometres which is 143321 acres with a population of 38,000. The forest includes the largest tracts of unenclosed forest, heath land and pastureland remaining in the South East England. The uniqueness of the landscape provides habitat for rare wildlife and plants. These lowland areas are a rare occurrence in the UK today. In the forms of wet heaths, dry heaths and valley bogs these areas are home to adders, grass snakes and lizards and more information regarding these creatures can be found at the New Forest Reptile Centre.

The New Forest is a popular location for all ages and interests. All year round there are activities such as guided walks, historic and geographic talks and traffic free cycle tracks with many New Forest bed and breakfast establishments to stay in. There are now a wide ranging selection of New Forest accommodation venues available, from 5 star country house hotels and bed and breakfasts to self catering lodges.

Something that should always be kept in mind is the British weather and if the weather is inclement there are numerous museums, galleries and visitor centres to look round. Surrounding the park there are many pretty villages and the towns such as Totton and Lymington to explore. These villages make an ideal base with a huge choice of New Forest B&B accommodation venues.

Guide to Choosing Accommodation on a Hiking Trip

December 18, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Most people who’ve never been hiking for more than a day or not at all might think that tents are the only accommodation for hikers. There are quite a few options for you to shelter at night. Using tents is one option but you can also stay in huts, lodges, hostels, bed and breakfasts, and trail shelters.

These are options you can take in your trip if they’re available. Other than using your own tent, all the accommodations incur a small fee. Many hikers use a variety of lodgings on the course of a hiking trip.

Using Tents in the Wilderness

Hikers on a multi-day trips usually carry with them lightweight camping tents. Some hikers like to pitch a tent out of sight in the wild and if possible away from other hikers and campers as well.

In some places like in North America, a tent is usually the only option for accommodation. You’ll have a hard time looking for bed and breakfasts or lodges because there aren’t any.

This is not such a big deal because many hikers in North America prefer to camp with no other people around. You need to remember that if you camp, make sure you leave the campsite as it was when you’re done. This is called no-trace camping. Leave nothing behind and take your garbage with you.

Using Tents in Designated Campsites

While some hikers like to be left alone, some actually look for company or like to be in the company other hikers. This is a safer option to camping in solitude because there’s safety in numbers.

In Europe, designated campsites usually have food stalls where you can buy or prepare your own food. In the US, campsites are available in parks where campers are designated to a group site.

Taking Shelter in Huts

While huts are rare in North America, it is quite common and popular in Europe especially in mountainous areas. They’re found in remote places away from populated areas and usually only accessible on foot.

You get basic accommodation facilities including cooking facilities. You can also buy a hot meal at a reasonable price. This type of accommodation is so popular that it’s usually full during the high season. Be sure that you book in advance or you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Bed and Breakfast and Backpacker’s Hostel

In Europe, B&Bs are everywhere especially along hiking routes. The facilities and service is a bit better than the ones you see in huts. The same goes for Backpacker’s Hostels. You’ll find cooking facilities, a common room, laundry machines, hot shower and a friendly environment.

You get to meet other hikers and share stories or just enjoy each others company. These accommodations are usually listed in trail guides especially if they’re hiker-friendly.

Staying in such places don’t require you to carry any camping gear, not even sleeping bags and cooking gear. They’re usually situated near local attractions including historical sites and other places of interest for tourists.

There are usually no locks for the rooms so you might want to carry your gear with you when you go out. Quality varies from spotless to roach infested. Choose ones that have good reviews from other hikers.

Trail Shelters

The difference between trail shelters and accommodations such as B&Bs is that there are no services in trail shelters. There are no laundry and cooking facilities so you’d have to rely on your camping gear. Trail shelters are popular in the northern parts of Scotland.

Jonsky writes for Hiking-Camping-World.com where you’ll find camping gear such as lightweight sleeping bags including kids sleeping bags.
