Using the Internet is the Best Place to Start

The Internet supplies the largest collection of information on cheap Toronto hotels in the world. While many people start at travel websites, often reserving hotel rooms directly from the main website of the business can mean saving money. Hotels in Toronto will often publish lower fares on their main websites before offering those fares on travel websites.

Comparison Shopping the Best Deals

Another huge benefit of searching for cheap Toronto hotels on the Internet is the ability to comparison shop the rates. If one travel website is listing a four star hotel for $100 US a night, search for the same accommodations on several other websites and the hotel site. The lowest rate you thought you were getting could be higher than competitor rates.

Willing to Travel?

If a car rental will be used while traveling in Toronto, a huge savings could be had by reserving cheap Toronto hotels outside of city limits. The cities of Markham, Vaughan, Mississauga, Newmarket and Pickering are just minutes outside of the city proper but offer lower hotel rates than those located in the middle of the action. An example are the Motels/Hotels in Mississauga Ontario. You can find very good rooms in Mississauga starting at $45 a night. Another benefit is that Mississauga is only twenty minutes from Downtown Toronto.

Reserving Toronto hotels outside of the downtown core may also offer interesting sights and attractions to visit. Vaughan, for instance, is home to the largest Theme park in all of Canada ( Canada’s Wonderland ). The ride to the city center is just 45 minutes, but the money saved will be well worth the time.

Choosing the Best Time of Year for Travel

There are two times of the year when Toronto is truly hopping with visitors, summer and winter. During the summer months, the temperatures make for the perfect outdoor hiking and camping adventures. Contrary to some peoples belief, temperatures in Toronto can soar up over thirty degrees celsius. The winter months are great for skiing and outdoor winter sports. When making travel plans, cheap Toronto hotels will be easier to find if traveling during the spring and fall as these are the less popular months for tourist travel to the city. Traveling on the weekdays as opposed to the weekends will also lower the rates for cheap Toronto hotels.

On a final note, if you do decide to visit Toronto, do not forget to check out our CN Tower for a beautiful view of the entire city! Other big attractions are: Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Toronto Zoo, The Distillery Historic District and the Ontario Science Centre.

Have you been searching for a peaceful, outdoor retreat for the entire family to enjoy? Do you want to relax in luxury on a lake with breathtaking views with all the amenities you could dream of? Otter Lake Cabins (www.otterlakecabins.ca) on Otter Lake in the beautiful British Columbia wilderness is the place you’ve been looking for.

Beautiful, pristine and picturesque Otter Lake is nestled in the Similkameen Valley in the south west Okanagan by the small, historic town of Tulameen, British Columbia. The community of Tulameen is in the Tulameen Valley which is located approximately 3.5 hours east of Vancouver, British Columbia. Otter Lake is about 4.5 kilometers long and fed by fresh mountain run-off and natural spring water.

Located on the east end of the lake is Otter Lake Provincial Park surrounded by the Cascade Mountain Range. Large numbers of otter, beaver and red squirrel inhabit the area, as well as, mountain goats, cougars and grizzly bears. This very popular lake covers about 290 hectares (716 acres) at an elevation of 823 m (2700 ft.)

Tulameen, an historic gold, platinum, and coal mining town, has long been one of British Columbia’s popular recreational areas, offering hiking, fishing, canoeing, tubing, swimming, water-skiing, cross-country skiing, gold panning, horse back riding, ATV-ing, ice-skating, snow mobiling and many other activities for both the summer and winter outdoor enthusiasts. Common species of freshwater fish that can be found in the lake are Kokanee, Largescale Sucker, Northern Pikeminnow (formerly N. Squawfish), Steelhead and Torrent Sculpin. A scenic 2 hour bike ride will take you around the lake along the Trans Canada Trail. Once your trip is done you can stop in at the quaint Tulameen General Store for an ice-cream or other refreshments.

Other amenities also include: a restaurant, post office, liquor store, video rentals, bike rentals (Crossroads Bike Rentals), community centre, outdoor skating rink, library, volunteer fire department, and skidoo dealer & repair centre.

The community of Tulameen and the Tulameen River derive their name from a Thompson Indian word meaning ‘red earth’. A steep bank of the Tulameen River of about four miles north of Princeton was the source of the much-prized red ochre for which the Indians travelled from great distances to get. The settlement of Tulameen was earlier known as Campement des Femmes, or Otter Flat. It sits between the eastern bank of the Tulameen River and the Southern end of Otter Lake. There are about 250 residents here but this number grows in the summer months.

There are many beautiful rental homes and cabins along the shores of Otter Lake. Some of the most popular, beautiful and luxurious are Otter Lake Cabins (www.otterlakecabins.ca). Are you looking for a relaxing, lakeside retreat for the entire family? Book your luxurious cabin vacation now and learn more about Otter Lake Cabins, Otter Lake, Tulameen and the surrounding historical sites at (http://www.otterlakecabins.ca)

Every year, thousands of us load up our backpacks and set off on our own little adventures across vast landscapes and bustling city environments.

When we think of backpacking, the first countries that usually spring to mind are Australia and New Zealand. Indeed, many do choose to head to the Southern Hemisphere – mostly because of the climate, and in some cases the surf.

However, have you ever thought about backpacking through destinations in the northern hemisphere? If you’re looking to get away and explore vast wildernesses dotted with hostels and lively cities along the way, then Canada should be somewhere you consider.

Many who backpack around North America normally try to include a trip north of the border as part of their backpacking experience. With a style of life similar to the USA and a mix of British and French cultural traditions there’s something for everyone.

Whether you’re looking to visit vibrant cities which have bustling nightlife or to experience the beauty of the scenery – including the world famous Niagara Falls – then it’s worth considering a stopover in Canada as part of your trip.

There are a wide variety of cheap hotels in Canada to choose from, and a number of companies around the country that can help you find cheap and cheerful hostel accommodation during your journey.

SameSun are an example of such a group, with a range of hostels available across Canada – from Vancouver to Banff National Park – which offer a warm place to stay, great food, laundry facilities as well as internet access. Coupled with a friendly environment in which to meet others and share your backpacking experiences – one such establishment is the Beaver Lounge at their Vancouver hostel.

With a lot of open wilderness north of the main cities, Canada is a fantastic destination if you’re looking to hike, bike or just generally experience nature.

Many hotels and hostels will be close to such trails – with some offering excursions for a small fee. So you’re more than likely going to find some kind of trail or track – surrounded by beautiful scenery – that’s just begging to be explored, either on foot or by bike.

It’s advisable to bear climate in mind when planning trips to Canada, for whilst summers can be warm and sunny, winters can be harsh – with some areas becoming completely cut off in heavy snow. But don’t let that thought put you off, as many of the hostels have facilities available should the weather turn a little unpredictable.

There are a number of ski resorts dotted around the Rocky Mountain region, which attracts thousands of winter sports enthusiasts every year. For those looking for an adrenaline rush during their backpacking excursions, there are a wide range of activities available all over the country – from sled dog runs to white water rafting.

So if you’re stuck for a location for your next backpacking excursion, consider heading north for a change.

The second largest country in the world should by no means stand in the shadow of its more boisterous southern neighbor. Canada’s 10 million square kilometers of land, lakes and life brings its own signature flavor to the North American continent. Travel through Canada is a truly mind-opening experience for even the most seasoned vacationer.

The region has been inhabited since the retreat of the last ice age, creating nearly 10,000 years of aboriginal history. Vikings roamed Canada’s arctic shores long before Europeans began bickering over land rights during the 16th century. The French settlers founded Quebec City in 1608 while British explorers populated the Atlantic seaboard and Hudson Bay. European wars exacerbated Franco-British tensions until the American Revolution sent British refugees north, tipping the balance away from the French. Canada was finally unified under a constitution in 1867, while maintaining ties to the British crown. Since then, a large Quebec sovereignty movement has emerged in the French speaking province and has gained momentum at the federal level.

Canada’s Untainted Urban Gems

Canada’s cities are as diverse as its territory is expansive. French-speaking Montreal is the largest city in Quebec and arguably the liveliest in Canada. After the 1976 Montreal Olympics, the Biodome de Montreal filled in the empty stadium with four actively maintained ecosystems and numerous living exhibits. The collection of species is nothing short of phenomenal. Montreal has a thriving museum culture (buy a 3-museum pass) and an irresistible nightlife, boasting the largest dance floor in the country and a pioneering music scene with an eclecticism not to be found elsewhere. Travel west into Canada’s serene backwoods to discover Vancouver, a metropolitan diamond in the rough of British Columbia’s rugged wilderness. Ski Whistler’s nearby slopes or enjoy a day of sailing, then flex your cosmopolitan muscle in the evening with a stroll through the acclaimed Vancouver Art Gallery and appetizers at Canada Place.

Visit Vancouver for a taste of Canada’s blossoming multiculturalism and international flavor. For a slower and more intimate pace, discover Nova Scotia’s capital of Halifax in the northeast. This revamped harbor town has become Canada’s Hollywood, with a large number of movies and shows being filmed along the charming avenues.

Unlimited Supply of Adventure

Canada’s Northwest and Yukon Territories offer some of the most pristine stretches of natural beauty in North America, along with the best light show around complements of the Aurora Borealis. Kluane National Park protects Yukon’s World Heritage Sites and Canada’s highest peak. In Alberta, Banff and Jasper National Parks provide the most spectacular views from the Canadian Rockies and a visit to Canada’s Glacier National Park, British Columbia, is imperative to witness the retreating ancient glaciers. With 39 National Parks and Reserves, Canada provides an infinite stock of breathtaking encounters.

Due to Canada’s extreme northern latitude, travel is best enjoyed during the summer months of July and August, even if the days are extremely long or endless. Winter sports can be enjoyed in many resorts year-round; however, December and January tend to be unbearably cold and dark, particularly in the northern regions.

With thousands of adventures worldwide, for Americans, Alaska and Canada adventure travel beats just about anything else because of the convenience and awe-inspiring views.

For Americans, there are several advantages to traveling in Alaska and Canada. For one, since Alaska is a US state, you do not need a passport when traveling there by plane or cruise. And, until at least January 8, 2007, Americans do not need a passport when heading to Alaska and Canada for adventure travel activities.
And they speak English… sort of!

One thing that I really like about Alaska and Canada adventure travel is that even in Canada, there is not a huge difference from the United States. Canadian banking systems, hospitals and hospitality are all on par with the United States.

There is one major difference though. I hate to say it, but Canadians are, simply put, nicer and more helpful than my fellow Americans.

The thing is, though, that the same can be said for Alaskans. It must be something about the clean air and water above the 49th parallel that causes this friendliness because Alaskans are also incredibly hospitable.
So, what are some of the best Alaska and Canada adventure travel destinations?

Of course, this is not an extensive list for Alaska and Canada adventure travel but a great place to start.
